Prelube 5000™ reduces friction when blowing microduct fiber-optic cables (with a small diameter) into a microduct conduit. It increases the cable’s installation distance. For blowing conventional fiber-optic cables: see the sidebar. Thanks to its improved formulation, the product spreads further within the conduit, leaves an extremely thin layer, and significantly reduces friction. Prelube 5000™ is effective even at quantities as low as 0.05 milligrams/cm². Apply the recommended amount of lubricant from the table below to the microduct guide tube. The amount can be measured with a syringe or estimated based on the length of the tube to be filled (see table below). Distribute the lubricant throughout the tube by blowing a “foam pick” or sponge through the tube as often as necessary. This prevents the lubricant from accumulating at the tube’s entrance.
