Prelube 2000™ reduces friction during the blowing of fiber-optic cable into a tube. It increases the length of cable that can be installed in a single continuous run. Prelube 2000 can also be used to pre-blow empty microtubes for future microcable installation. When blowing in cable, the cable stops moving when the accumulated frictional force equals the blowing force generated during installation. In a straight tube, the maximum blow-in distance varies linearly with the coefficient of friction. The reduction in friction achieved by using Prelube 2000 can increase the installation distance by a factor of 5 or more compared to an unlubricated tube.
