The PCS-100 stripping device is the machine for stripping polyimide-based optical fibers. This device is common in the oil and gas and medical industries because the polyimide coating has superior heat and chemical resistance compared to conventional UV-curable coating materials, but the coating requires extra care in removal. Because of the thin coating and strong adhesion of the coating to the cladding, dangerous chemical stripping techniques using hot sulfuric acid or burning the coating are common methods of stripping the polyimide fiber. The PCS-100 is the first tool to use a mechanical stripping method to provide safe, consistent and fast stripping solutions. Note: The PCS-100 is designed for stripping polyimide-coated optical fibers and should not be used for other applications as it may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious personal injury.
