It is a loose-tube cable with optical fibers housed in robust tubes and wound around a fiber-reinforced plastic strength member. In addition to glass fibers, the tubes also contain a water-blocking gel, and the cable core is well sealed to prevent water from entering the voids within the cable core. The cable has a black outer sheath.
