Fiber optic DAC cable tested by Maunt
During the rollout of FTTH, DAC cables are often used. These are fiber optic cables that connect the data network to residents. These cables are laid in the ground without additional protection. And even during installation, the cables can sometimes be hit by bystanders or even vehicles. Maunt tested a DAC cable from STL (Sterlite Technologies Ltd.) in different ways.
Reading time: min.The measurement before and after load
First, the DAC cable was welded to fiber optic pigtails and then measured with an OTDR using pre- and post-tensioning reel. The cable was loaded in various ways and exposed to various conditions encountered in practice. Both before and after loading, the optical specifications (e.g. attenuation and reflection) remained unchanged positive. The accompanying video shows how this test was carried out.
